Gym floods – a huge thank you!

Donna and the Team would like to thank a whole host of volunteer parents for all their hard work over the past three or four days with the gym floods!

We have experienced some extremely bad weather over the past week and our drains have had problems dealing with the volume of water. We have now had a number of engineers out to help alleviate the drainage problems, and we hope that we will not have this situation arise again.

On Saturday morning we had severe flooding and the waiting area and main foyer was really waterlogged. After 7 hours of cleaning and sucking up water, we were able to re-open for our School’s Cup competition on the Sunday morning. This would not have been possible without the help of a number of people: Sarah Bolton, Nobuko Cornish, Edy Bratu, Clive Thomas, Ainsti Hickman-Jones, Tom Rimmer, Jaron Morgan, Nellie Morgan – all whom helped with the removal of water from the carpets during the day.

Thanks also to Lyn Barnett and Edy Bratu for the use of their Vax hoovers for the day! Shane McCartney, Gaz Wheat & Jason Standing who assisted in going up onto the roof of the premises to ensure that all the gulleys were free of debris, stick and leaves that the seagulls had kindly been throwing around!!

The Club would appreciate any assistance and donations to help replace the carpet in the front area of the gym, replacement of skirting boards around the front entrance to the gym and any general painting/decorating that may be necessary. Really, we need a new gym ……..!!!!! – Donna Jenkin.
