Callywith Invitational Floor and Vault 2012

13 Young gymnasts travelled to Bodmin on Sunday 14 October to take part in, for many, their first competition. The gymnasts had to learn a Floor routine to music and compete two flatback vaults.

In the 7 year age group there were 17 gymnasts competing for just three medals in the overall event. Swallows, Ashleigh Shovel took the overall Gold medal with a score of 22.26; with team mate Zoe Hopkins finishing narrowly behind with a score of 22.11. Other competitors competing were Sophie McCartney, 5th, Zena Jackson and Jessica Caves, =6th, Stella Laws, 11th, Holly Kemp, 13th and Alaia Wilson in 15th.

In the 8 year age group, Swallows had 3 gymnasts, competing against 12 other girls from around the County. Kaitlyn Standing took the Overall Bronze medal with a score of 21.11, with Josie Martin in 4th and Amy Manley finishing in 11th place.

In the 9 year age group there were just two gymnasts from the club taking part with Isabelle Menear finishing in 10th and Caitlin Coull narrowly behind in 11th place overall.

The coaches were extremely pleased with the gymnast’s efforts throughout their competition and look forward to some more really good results in November’s competition. Well done to all the gymnasts and their coaches for all their hard work in preparing for this new competition.
