About Swallows

Swallows of Helston is a gymnastic club in Cornwall with approximately 350 members, ranging from around 3 years old to adults. A broad range of classes are run weekly, incorporating all ages, at recreational, display and competitive levels.

Boy’s South West Inter Counties and 6 piece Apparatus 2012

9 young gymnasts travelled to Exeter last Sunday to compete in the Boy’s South West Compulsory and Voluntary Apparatus. The boys were all representing the Swallows of Helston Gymnastics Club and 6 made up the Under 14 Cornwall team for the Inter Counties event.

Callywith Invitational Floor and Vault 2012

13 Young gymnasts travelled to Bodmin on Sunday 14 October to take part in, for many, their first competition. The gymnasts had to learn a Floor routine to music and compete two flatback vaults.

In the 7 year age group there were 17 gymnasts competing for just three medals in the overall event. Swallows, Ashleigh Shovel took the overall Gold medal with a score of 22.26; with team mate Zoe Hopkins finishing narrowly behind with a score of 22.11. Other competitors competing were Sophie McCartney, 5th, Zena Jackson and Jessica Caves, =6th, Stella Laws, 11th, Holly Kemp, 13th and Alaia Wilson in 15th.

Cornwall Boy’s Novice Apparatus 2012

Swallows Gymnasts take the trophies at recent event!

5 young gymnasts from the Swallows of Helston Gymnastics Club recently took part in the Cornwall Development Apparatus event in Helston against a number of other gymnasts from Clubs inCornwall.

All five boys came away with a stash of medals, including 3 County Champion titles.

Gym floods – a huge thank you!

Donna and the Team would like to thank a whole host of volunteer parents for all their hard work over the past three or four days with the gym floods!

We have experienced some extremely bad weather over the past week and our drains have had problems dealing with the volume of water. We have now had a number of engineers out to help alleviate the drainage problems, and we hope that we will not have this situation arise again.
