About Swallows

Swallows of Helston is a gymnastic club in Cornwall with approximately 350 members, ranging from around 3 years old to adults. A broad range of classes are run weekly, incorporating all ages, at recreational, display and competitive levels.

Club Grades competition 2013

Results were extremely pleasing with all the gymnasts passing their Grade at their relevant Level.

 

Grade 14 – DISTINCTIONS were achieved by Zoe Hopkins, Kaitlyn Standing, Holly Kemp and Stella Laws.  HIGHLY COMMENDED passes were awarded to Jessica Caves, Sophie McCartney, Alaia Wilson, Lilia Rowe, Zena Jackson and Isadora Revell.

Grade 13 – DISTINCTIONS achieved by Charlotte Fidler, Ashleigh Shovel and Shannon Standing.  HIGHLY COMMENDED passes were awarded to Madison Stanfiled, Claudia Kitchen, Kerris Richards and Katie McCartney.

Grade 12 – DISTINCTION for Autumn-Star Mills.  HIGHLY COMMENDED passes for both Zara Mitchell and Cara Jackson.

Grade 11 – HIGHLY COMMENDED passes for Dana Littlejohns and Dana Wheat.

Boys compete at the British Under 12’s in Glasgow

Matt H Cameron Calum Swallows Gymnasts took to the air last weekend to compete amongst Britain’s best Under 12’s.

Following their recent successes in the National Elite NDP finals, the boys were excited about their journey to Glasgow.

In the competition Cameron Wheat completed his routines to take overall 27th place out of a field of 56 gymnasts.  Calum finished his all around competition in 33rd with Matthew Heaney in 50th.  Matthew can compete at in this age group again, so was one of the youngest competitors taking part.

On the Vault – Calum took the overall Silver medal which makes him the first gymnast from the Swallows to gain a medal at British Championship level.

Congratulations to all the boys for their efforts and to Edy for all his hard work and patience.

British Gymnastics has confirmed Thursday 28th November the selection of our gymnast Elliot Bullen for the MAG Elite Performance Squad 2014.

Club Champions at Recreational Level awarded

In our Annual Floor and Vault competiton at Recreational Level the young members had a great time performing in front of their parents, and for many of these gymnasts, for the first time.  Remebering their routines was a bit of a mission, but the 84 gymnasts had a fantastic time showing off their skills.

The results were as follows:

8 years – Champion – Faith Coyne, 2nd – Madison Burtenshaw and 3rd – Elle Lewis

9 yrs girls – Champion – Eva Ziemacki, 2nd – Enya-Leigh Keogh and 3rd – Katie Etchells

9 yrs boys – Champion – Jack Bowman, 2nd – Alexander Galloway and 3rd – Travis Williams

10 yrs – Champion – Kerensa Riley, 2nd – Mireia Caswell and 3rd – Natasha Harvey

11+ yrs girls – Champion – Willoe Miners, 2nd – Abbie Trubshaw and 3rd – Tea Clark

11+ yrs boys – Champion – Harry Eddy

5 yrs – Champion – Emma Clements-Mowbray, 2nd – Maya Swift and 3rd – Cerys Stuart

6 rs girls – Champion – Alexandra Parry, =2nd – Elona Richards & Izzy Dunkley, 3rd – Katie Bowman

6 yrs boys – Champion – Thomas Heaney, 2nd – Jack Courage & 3rd – Kieran Standing

7 yrs girls – Champion – Holly Clues, 2nd – Emily Rabey and 3rd – Jamie-Leigh Williamson

7 yrs boys – Champion – Finely Lewin, 2nd – Harry Martin & 3rd – Rhys MacDonald
