South West Boy’s Inter Counties 2013

Intercounties 2013 Four boys from Swallows of Helston travelled to Barnstaple on Sunday 17 November to take part in the South West’s Inter Counties competition for 2013.

Matthew Bolton (10yrs) headed the team and had a reasonably good competition narrowly missing the overall Championship title in the Under 10 age group.  Matthew took the Bronze medal individually.

Daniel Lucas (10yrs) came a credible 8th position out of 35 gymnasts with a great Vault average.

Cameron Jenkin and Aidan Hunkin (9yrs) both competing a year below many of the other competitors had to amke a huge step to achieve a handspring vault over the large table.  Both boys did remarkably well and achieved very good averages.  Cameron continued to work steadily on the Floor where he achieved 3rd place out of 35 gymnasts, and 5th overall.

Daniel, Cameron and Aidan gained their County colours for representing Cornwall for the first time and the Team managed to bring home the overall Silver medal, narrowly behing Devon’s team by 0.25

Well done to all our boys.  And a well done to Aspire’s Luke Richardson for making up the fifth member of Cornwall’s team for the event.
