About Swallows

Swallows of Helston is a gymnastic club in Cornwall with approximately 350 members, ranging from around 3 years old to adults. A broad range of classes are run weekly, incorporating all ages, at recreational, display and competitive levels.

Cornwall Boy’s Novice Apparatus 2012

Swallows Gymnasts take the trophies at recent event!

5 young gymnasts from the Swallows of Helston Gymnastics Club recently took part in the Cornwall Development Apparatus event in Helston against a number of other gymnasts from Clubs inCornwall.

All five boys came away with a stash of medals, including 3 County Champion titles.

 Under 8 boys – Champion – Joe Mitchell, also winning gold medals on Pommel, Rings, Parallel Bars and High Bar.  Silver medals on Floor and Vault.

Silver medallist overall – Leandros Papastavros, also winning Gold on Floor and Vault with Silver medals on Pommel, Parallel Bars, Rings and High Bar.

Leandros also took the overall Floor and Vault Champion title, with Joe in Silver position.

Under 10 boys – Champion – Cameron Jenkin, also winning Gold medals on Floor, Rings, Parallel Bars and High Bar.

Silver medallist overall – Aidan Hunkin, also sharing Gold on Rings with team mate Cameron, Pommel.  Silver medals on High Bar and Bronze on Parallel Bars and Floor.

Cameron also took the Silver medal for the Floor and Vault competition combined with Aidan close behind in Bronze medal place.

Over 12 boys – Champion for both Floor and Vault and the Apparatus competitions, Daniel Wills.  Daniel also took the Gold medals on all 6 pieces of apparatus with some great performances.

A fantastic day had by all five young gymnasts with a total medal haul of 37 medals between them.  We look forward to seeing these boys developing over the coming years.
